The story of Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa revolves around a dance company, Sallyan, which was founded by dancer/choreographer Vickie Padilla and her daughter Rita. Of all the ideas that Vickie has for Sallyan, this idea of bringing together dancers and poets came up the most. When Rita approached Alvin about becoming a choreographer for Sallyan's new dance production based on Philippine Feminist poetry, she said that the project needed a poet. Alvin responded in saying, "Yes, I like the concept. I like it. I will join the production."
