Continuous Bioprocessing

Continuous bioprocessing is a modern biotechnology manufacturing approach where raw materials are continuously fed into a bioreactor and product is continuously harvested, instead of using traditional batch processing.

👉 In simple terms:It is a system where biopharmaceutical production runs non-stop, like a production line rather than making one batch at a time.

⚙️ How it works

In a continuous bioprocess:

  1. Fresh nutrients and cells are continuously added

  2. Cells grow and produce the target product (e.g., antibodies, vaccines)

  3. Product is continuously removed and purified

  4. Waste products are also continuously removed

This keeps the system in a steady state (constant production condition).
